Remembering Pat MacCrea
October 17, 2009 Patricia (Reid) MacCrea, 77, of DeWitt, passed away peacefully Saturday at home. Pat was born November 3, 1931, in Glen Ridge, NJ. An SU graduate, she was an active member in the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and the Republican Party, running for Syracuse City Council in 1971. She worked for many years at the Onondaga County Department of Social Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) in 1976. As the founder of the Jonathan Cancer Fund in memory of her grandson, Pat's vision was to assist with the ordinary needs of families facing extraordinary circumstances. Pat enjoyed traveling to visit family and to Europe, notably to the family's ancestral castle in Scotland. Gardening and reading were her favorite pastimes. Pat is survived by her sister, Jackie (Herb) Allee of Bettendorf, Iowa; four sons, Douglas (Kathy) of Ames, Iowa, Jerry of Syracuse, Stephen (Amy) of Hillsborough, NJ, and Peter (Staci) of Tully; five grandchildren, Jim, Erica (Ryan Patrick), Matt, Ryan and Rob; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 1308 Meadowbrook Dr., Syracuse. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements by B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, Camillus.
